Identify the operating carrier
A marketing airline or codeshare seller may not control pet acceptance. Record the operating carrier and exact segment, then ask which policy, booking desk, cargo facility and aircraft restrictions apply.
Confirm the travel channel
Cabin, accompanied baggage, manifest cargo and other channels use different booking and handoff processes. Obtain the reference that proves the pet space or cargo movement is accepted.
Check the exact aircraft and date
Ask about aircraft limits, breed and weight restrictions, seasonal or weather embargoes, connection handling, facility capacity, cutoff times and any 72/48-hour reconfirmation requirement.
Check crate fit twice
Calculate the animal-based IATA CR1 minimum internal dimensions, then compare the candidate crate with the carrier or aircraft maximum external dimensions. Passing one test does not imply passing the other.
Record written evidence
A phone call can reveal the next question, but save the written reply, booking or airway-bill reference, contact, date, exact route and recheck date before treating the control as closed.
Prepare a change loop
If the flight, aircraft, operating carrier, route, weather status or arrival time changes, reopen the certificate timing, carrier, crate, transit and facility controls before proceeding.
